IIPM not recognised by UGC, MHRD

UGC (University Grants Commission), in a notification issued on 31st july 2010, has stated that IIPM is neither a University nor a deemed university under the act and hence cannot award MBA/BBA or BCA degrees. It is to be noted that most newspapers who advertised about the IIPM havent carried this important notification due to advertising pressures from IIPM.
The UGC Notification clearly says, “It is hereby informed to the public at large and students that the Indian Institute of Planning and Management(IIPM), New Delhi is not a University within the meaning of Sec 2(F) of The University Grants Commission Act 1956. Further, as per Sec 22 of the UGC Act, IIPM, New Delhi does not have the right of conferring or granting degrees under the UGC Act. It is further clarified for information that IIPM is neither entitled to award  MBA/BBA/BCA nor recognised by UGC, AICTE or MHRD.” Link to the notification, Link to other news
Ahe Andhra Pradesh state higher education department has also issued a show cause notice to IIPM on their awarding degrees in the state of andhra pradesh which are not valid under the state act. In most states, only degrees validated by UGC or under the state act are valid.  The show cause notice issued to IIPM is also available under the notification link.
