Mahabharatham - Andrum Indrum Endrum By Nagai Mukundan: "
Our Sanathana Dharma has many authoritative texts. These texts can be broadly classified as Sruti, Smriti & Ithihaasa Puranaas. Sruti's are those that are heard and our 4 Vedas are also termed as sruti's. Smriti's are rule books. They teach us how to lead a life according to Dharma. Manu Smriti and Bhagavad Gita are examples of Smriti's. For those who can't learn the Vedas and Gita, the role and importance of Dharma are explained in the form of stories in Ithihaasas and puranas (Ramayana, Mahabharata and 18 puranas). For a normal spiritual seeker it is important that we first listen to the Ithihaasas and puranas then listen to the Bhagavad Gita followed by the Upanishads. This would be an easy transition from i to I.
Mahabharata is also termed as the panchamo veda (5th Veda). There is also a saying that what cannot be found in Mahabharata cannot be found anywhere else. This upanyasam is by Shri Nagai Mukundan, a disciple of pulaver keeran. This is a 9 day upanyasam. The main reference is Villi Bharatham. The upanysakar has also quoted from Vyasa Bharatham and Pandavar Bhoomi by Vaali. Sri Nagai Mukundan has also tried to incorporate the role of Mahabharata in our daily life. Hence the title - Andrum Indrum Endrum."
