Three boys - English,Hindu and Persian- were given some money by their master to share equally. They decided to purchase something.None of them fully understood the language of the other,so they had some difficulty in deciding what to buy.The English boy insisted on purchasing a watermelon, the Hindu boy a hindwana and the third Tarbooz.AS they were quarreling, they passed a man who understood these three languages.
That man was amused over their quarrel. He said he could decide the matter for them.He took the money, went to a fruit shop and purchased a big watermelon.he then called the boys one by one,and without revealing what he was doing, cut the watermelon into three equal slices, took out one part and said "is not that what you wanted?" the boy was pleased and he accepted it cheerfully.so it went with other two.
Why was the quarrel caused?what is that brought about the misunderstanding among the lads?Names, mere names, nothing else.Take off the names, you find that the three different names watermelon, hindwana and tarbooz-imply one and the same thing.
