The Embodiments of Saranagathi

The three occasions in which Lord himself hurried to rescue his devotees are always mentioned in various slogas, kritis & stories. The three devotees Gajendran,Drowpathi & Prahladhan  are the embodiments of Saranagathi ie Total Surrender to the Supreme Lord.
You may think they are mere characters in Puranas. ofcourse...they are characters But,what is Puranas ?
Vedhas are Laws and Puranas are the implementation of Vedas, the laws It is easy for us to understand the concepts in the form of stories. We can also remember the stories more readily  than defenitions. In my older post The Art of Happiness itself, we have seen that the ultimate goal of life is Happiness.Vedas help us to reach the goal preaching Dos & Don'ts.Puranas explains it rather in a simple way & help us to fulfill our goal.
Another point noteworthy to mention here is the three devotees Gajandra,Drowpathy & Prahlathan were not scholars or yogisThey reach the feet of Lord due to their full faith, devotion. They show a path for us.After hearing these Puranas,we get an enthusiasm that we can also reach God.This is the purpose of Puranas.

God will reward you according to your faith, devotion. If you have 100% faith, definetely HE will come and save you.If your bhakthi is 50% HE will reward accoding to it only.A teacher while evaluating a answer sheet,he will give marks according to the answer written in the paper.Without writing proper answer, how can we blame the teacher ? This is the case in bhakthi also.

I conclude with a quote by Sri Srivatsa Jayaram Sarma in his Narayaneeyam discourse.
"To realize God, Close your brain valve and open your heart valve"

Our little brain should work off to go nearer to our lord. Because so long as the brain is working, it will shake all our faith. The indomitable faith is always shaken by our mind. The mind is the maker. So close this brain valve and open your heart valve, which will take us to our dearer god. God should be experienced and should not be understood. Understanding is the brain’s job and experiencing is the job of our heart. So close the valve of brain and open heart’s valve and go in close proximity to the almighty.

Bhakthi

WHAT IS BHAKTHI?
One cannot understand bhakthi merely by reading books or attending lectures.Bhakthi can be relished by ponder over the compassion of Almighty. Simply ask yourself “Who am I? Who nurture us this much; look at the people who are living in poverty; people who are handicaps; consider the creatures dwelling in ditches... Rather than creating us in the midst of these people, HE spits out us with good health. HE makes us to lead a respectable life. For these things, what can we do in return?”
If we perform any pooja or abisheham with milk or honey, it is not laudable because HE only gives these substances also consequently, what else can we offer to HIM in return? Chanting his Nama is the only thing, which we can offer to HIM. Whenever we are thinking of his kindliness, pondering over his mercy, we are meant to do bhakthi only. For this, you need not go to any lonely place-you can do bhakthi at your doorstep itself; no need to renounce this life. You can do bhakthi with your family. God expects your love only.

The Art of Happiness -A Simple Path

The Art of Happiness -A Simple Path

THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF LIFE
The purpose of life is to attain, to unearth happiness. What is happiness? Nobody desires a life filled with misery. All want to get rid of misery only. Therefore, happiness is the other extreme to misery. There are two types of happiness; Permanent happiness and temporary happiness. Let us further explore this...
My friend has one Rolex wristwatch, which I badly yearn for. Eventually I got that watch and I was very happy. I believe that I was the happiest human being in the world. I wore it now and then and I forgot about it. Right now, my happy is, in getting another item and it goes on like a never-ending process. It has no bounds; the happiness, which I got, was not everlasting, and it survives for few days only. This is what great saints called as Temporary Happiness. We all need only undying happiness and not the temporary one. Here, I have illustrated just one of my experiences. Similarly, everyone has his own happenings. From this, we can come to a conclusion that happiness is not in the possessions we have; it is rather different; it is within ourselves; we can’t dig up from outside; it is a state where there is no misery. A form in which the soul is soaked with peacefulness. This is true happiness; one’s mental state determines this happiness, despite outside circumstances.
Finally, we identify what true happiness is. At this point, the billon dollar question before us is how to attain this happiness. It is simple. .Just embrace the lotus feet of GOD.HE will take care of you. HE will show the path in which you have to pursue .Entrust yourself to HIM. Lead a life in accordance with him. HE will escort you.

Names,Mere Names

Three boys - English,Hindu and Persian- were given some money by their master to share equally. They decided to purchase something.None of them fully understood the language of the other,so they had some difficulty in deciding what to buy.The English boy insisted on purchasing a watermelon, the Hindu boy a hindwana and the third Tarbooz.AS they were quarreling, they passed a man who understood these three languages.
That man was amused over their quarrel. He said he could decide the matter for them.He took the money, went to a fruit shop and purchased a big watermelon.he then called the boys one by one,and without revealing what he was doing, cut the watermelon into three equal slices, took out one part and said "is not that what you wanted?" the boy was pleased and he accepted it cheerfully.so it went with other two.
Why was the quarrel caused?what is that brought about the misunderstanding among the lads?Names, mere names, nothing else.Take off the names, you find that the three different names watermelon, hindwana and tarbooz-imply one and the same thing.

You can conquer MAYA with the help of Maya itself

You can conquer MAYA with the help of Maya itself. We can realize this with an example.
An old man had 3 sons and he wrote a will and died. According to that will the 17 elephants which he had, can be divided among his 3 sons as follows: Elder son will get 2/3 share; second son will get 1/3 share and the last will get 1/9 share. Sons were irrational and they were so stubborn to get exact share ie 8 ½ elephants for the eldest son and so on. Raja came there and enquired about the problem. He made his elephant also stand with their elephants so that the total becomes 18. According to the will eldest son has 2/3 share and got 9 elephants; second son has 1/3 share ie 6 and the third son gets 2.The sons were very happy. Raja took the remaining elephant, his own elephant and left. Here the extra elephant ie Raja’s elephant is MAYA…. It helps to divide the elephants without participation

The Essence of NARAYANEEYAM is the presence of Lord Krishna himself.

The Essence of NARAYANEEYAM is the presence of Krishna himself.
For a long time, the Vedha bush which thrived well did not bear a flower or a fruit. Considering this, Vedha Vyasa was worried. After serious thoughts, he found a solution. He made thick bush into 4 parts so that sun rays can penetrate. Unluckily there was no improvement. Finally he decided to seek advice from an agriculturist NARADHA. Naradha told Vyasa
Don’t look into the top; you should catch sight of the bottom of the bush. There is no water; roots lost water; erect a canal between the bush and water should be there right through the year
.
Vyasa built Bhakthi as the canal and Nama as water. Then 18000 fruits were grown-up
Ever since there were no fruits in the tree for a long time, people were scared to eat.Sukar parret tastes each fruit. Rather than sucking the juice, he injects sweetness into the fruits.
Kali appeared and nobody was concerned with these fruits and they had no patience also. God asked Narayana Battathri to prepare squash out of these fruits and make it into 100 bottles so that in this fast moving world people can make use of it instantly. Any juice without essence is not delicious consequently he adds essence to this juice. The Essence of NARAYANEEYAM is the presence of Lord Krishna himself.
